Crathorne Hall wedding photographer - Jessica and Ryan’s Day

Two of the best things about capturing North Yorkshire wedding photography, are getting to meet and work with lovely couples like Jessica and Ryan. And getting to return to be Crathorne Hall wedding photographers. Jessica and Ryan chose the perfect venue for their summer wedding.
Crathorne Hall is a luxury Edwardian country house hotel nestled in grounds and gardens with spectacular views of the Leven Valley on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors.

On the day we woke to sunshine, and headed over to Jessica’s mums house to capture the bridal preparation images. Jessica had her bridal party with her. (We loved the co-ordinated robes ladies!) They consisted of Sarah and Grace, who were maids of honour, and bridesmaids Ashley and Lucy. They all looked elegant in light purple dresses (purple is Jessica’s favourite colour).

Everybody was in great spirits and in the safe and experienced hands of make-up artist Lucy Hart and hairstylist Jody Dawson.
There being two of us means that we can be in two places at once, so we were able to also catch up with Ryan and his grooms party who consisted of Ryan, best man Jake, and ushers Sam, Cam, James and Gaurub. Ryan looked very smart in a petrol blue check three-piece suit with lilac tie and brown brogue shoes. His grooms party wore the same but without the check pattern.

Jessica looked stunning in a figure-hugging dress with beautiful lace detail and a mermaid cut skirt that kicked out giving her an amazing silhouette in all of our images. She bought it from Victoria Robson bridal. It was complemented with a full veil, and a stunning bouquet created by florists Wild & Dandy who provided all of the flowers on the day. Jessica’s long hair was elegantly curled to cascade down her back giving her a real fairy tale bride look.

The weather was lovely, and so was Jessica’s mum’s garden, so we used it as a backdrop and took some great images of the bridal party before leaving for the ceremony. Including a very sweet father seeing the bride moment for Jessica’s dad and stepdad.

By this time, the grooms party were making their way to the Garrison memorial church of St Martin and St Oswald church for the ceremony. And we captured some great images of them on their way.

Now I want to mention the youngest members of the wedding party. There were some very sweet flower girls and page boys who looked utterly adorable and performed their duties perfectly. And a very important member of the wedding party was Nuala, Jessica and Ryan’s gorgeous golden Labrador who looked thrilled to be there.
Jessica and her dad and stepdad travelled to the church in style in a beautiful white vintage Rolls Royce provided by Elite Wedding Cars.

The ceremony was beautiful. Jessica was walked down the aisle by both of her dads. Churches can be dark spaces, but the beautiful large stained-glass windows of St Martin and St Oswald’s threw tons of light into the church, that we played with to create even more beautiful images of Jessica and Ryan’s ceremony.
After a beautiful ceremony, that included live music from a string quartet, Jessica, Ryan and an excited Nuala walked back down the aisle and outside where there was a fun confetti moment. Everybody then headed to Crathorne Hall for the reception.

On arrival everybody enjoyed a drinks reception on the beautiful terrace and enjoyed live music from a guitarist and singer. And we took the chance to get some great images, both candid and formal of the wedding party and guests.

We climbed the balcony and took an image of the entire wedding party, producing one of Jessica and Ryan’s favourite photos of the day. Here, take a look!

We also took a sneaky peek indoors to get some great images of the venue all dressed and ready to go. The wedding breakfast was held in Crathorne Hall’s magnificent drawing room. This impressive room with fine art and a chandeliered ceiling is bursting with period features. It had been dressed exquisitely by The First Class Wedding Company who worked alongside Jessica to deliver on her vision.

We must mention the wedding cake, it was white, three tiered with different styling on each tier. It looked amazing and was the provided by burnett4cakes.

Jessica and Ryan had hired the very talented toast master Andy Larmouth who gave the entire wedding party a welcoming entrance which really set the tone for a fun reception. Everybody then enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast, whilst being entertained by a singer and guitarist. Who played such popular songs that guests were just joining in. It created a really joyous moment which we know was one of the highlights of the day for Jessica and Ryan. After the meal there were the speeches and we captured some gorgeous candid images of guests enjoying them.

After the meal, as guests were happily milling about and enjoying exclusive use of Crathorne Hall. We took our chance to quickly whisk Jessica and Ryan away for a few minutes, for a mini photoshoot of them around the grounds and gardens. We got some really romantic images. Here, take a look!

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of that delicious looking cake, followed by a romantic first dance to ‘Hearts don’t break around here’ by Ed Sheeran. They weren’t alone for long. Jessica and Ryan’s guests were definitely up for a party and it was so lovely to see four generations on the dancefloor together. We jumped in too to get some really fun dancefloor images that captured the sheer joy of the party.

Before taking our leave, we wanted to get a couple of after dark images of Jessica and Ryan outside. It was well worth the effort, the image we got of them under the brick arch that was backlit with a purple light was stunning. And the perfect image to close the story of their wonderful wedding day. Here, take a look!

A fantastically fun and laid back wedding at a simply stunning wedding venue. Congratulations to Jessica and Ryan for getting married and creating such an amazing wedding day. And thanks for allowing us to tell the story of it. We loved it!
We’ll leave the last words to Jessica and Ryan. Here’s what they had to say about working with us.
“There’s no way I can put into words how great Graham & Bridgit were from the moment we met them. We had a pretty messy time planning the wedding due to covid. 3 dates, and they made sure we were covered on every date. The communication from them was world class.
We had an amazing time at our pre wedding photo shoot with them having a good laugh as well as capturing some amazing shots.
The wedding day was without a doubt the highlight for us. They helped with absolutely everything, from telling us where we need to be to helping Jess with her dress. I honestly cannot put into words how great these two people are. They truly feel like part of the family now!
If you’re looking at hiring photographers for any occasion, I would bet my house on these two can do the best job.”
