Choosing Your Wedding Photographer.

Choosing a wedding photographer is maybe one of the most important decision to be made during your wedding planning journey. Once the confetti has blown away, the wedding cake has been eaten and the honeymoon is over comes the exciting time to receive your wedding photos. Your wedding photos are something you’ll keep forever so you need to make sure you get the perfect photographers for you.

Your walk down the aisle. The first look from your dad when he sees you for the first time. Not forgetting about the reactions from your guests at the revelations made during the speeches. These are just some of the moments you’ll be able to look back on. Remembering one of the happiest days of your life. Not just now, but in years to come. This is why choosing a wedding photographer is such an important decision to make during your wedding journey.

Photography Style.

There are common types of wedding photography style. Reportage photography is also known as photojournalistic or documentary photography. Traditional or formal wedding photography. Contemporary photography which will feel more like fashion or editorial photography combined with reportage.

We actually prefer not to label our style of photography, as we find it’ s a mixture of the above. We absolutely love photographing weddings and we do so in a relaxed and natural way. This will focus on the “in the moment” natural things as your day goes on, but will also include some non-posed wedding portraiture. This means we can really tell the story, in photographs, of your very special day.

For us it is about your individual wedding day, which will be completely different from the wedding we photographed last week.

Check Out What Others Think.

Once you have found the photographers whose style and method you like – how do you go about choosing your photographers?

One great way is to see if any of your friends or family have used the photographers or been guests at weddings and had the chance to see them at work. Another way is to see what others have said about the photographers. This can be done by checking out reviews or testimonials that have been written by previous brides & grooms. As well as liking the photographers work see if there are any comments about them as people or the level of service that is offered.

Some of the testimonials and reviews written about us go into some detail about what we are like, how we are on the wedding day and the service that we give to our couples.

Choosing A Wedding Photographer – Meeting in person.

Probably the most important piece of advice we can give when choosing a wedding photographer. This is the only way that you can get a real feel for the photographers personalities and work they produce. Questions you may have will be answered at this point. Are we relaxed with them? Will they photograph what we want? Have you photographed at our venue before? What do we get in your package? Can we see an album you supply?

These plus many other questions will be answered at this point, remember there is no such thing as a daft question.

Whilst we try and answer many of these questions here on our website, you can click here to see these.

We do however, actively encourage people who enquire about our services to meet with us. This is the best way to see if we are all a right mix for each other.

Book a pre wedding (engagement) shoot.

Not many people have had the experience of being professionally photographed. A great way to see how your photographers work is to book a pre wedding photoshoot. This is a brilliant way to get comfortable in front of the camera and get to know your photographer.

Whilst not an essential, but you’ll be so much more comfortable on the day if you’ve not had some experience of being photographed by your chosen photographers beforehand. 100% of our couples who may have been slightly nervous about being photographed, told us how relaxed the photo shoot  made them feel. They were so glad they chose to have one.

A pre wedding photoshoot can also be booked to help you make up your mind about a photographer you have in mind. There is nothing wrong with making a small investment, booking a pre wedding photoshoot, to make sure that you all get on, so that on your wedding day you will know that you have made the right choice in your wedding photographers.
