Gretna Green Wedding Photography.

Emma and Ben

One of the most amazing things we realize as  wedding photographers is that we get to meet and work with some fabulous and wonderful people. We first met Emma and Ben quite a few years ago at a wedding fair , they loved our work and our personalities clicked, we knew that it would be a great partnership with us as their wedding photographer. So when they asked if we would travel to Mexico for their wedding day of course we would love to do that.

So Emma and Ben started to plan with their wedding venue, their flowers and the timetables for their day and for us the logistics of transporting equipment 5,220 miles to make sure it all arrived safely. Then the pandemic hit and their plans were forced to be changed and their date was postponed for a year to 2021. But Covid had further ideas as restrictions dragged on into 2021. This forced Ben and Emma to make a major decision regarding their wedding. They decided that getting married was far more important than waiting for another year for foreign travel to reopen and with four weeks to go they booked, planned and arranged their wedding day at Gretna Green. We were more than happy to still be able to be with them for a couple of days to provide them with their wedding photography.

Pre Wedding Photography Shoot.

On the day of the wedding we were able to find a bit of time to escape to a beautiful little beach for a pre wedding photoshoot. Emma and Ben travelled in Ben's other love - Dotty his restored Land Rover which was to feature in the wedding celebrations too.

Wedding Day Preparations.

In the blink of an eye it was time to start to get ready for the important rest of the day, Ben would be getting ready at The Gretna Hall Hotel with the brides preparations taking place at the nearby Smyths Hotel.

We were moved to tears when Emma was contacted by friends who could not be at the wedding, through video messenger and they were able to see just how stunning she looked. What a moment as a wedding photographer, we absolutely love technology!

The Wedding Ceremony.

It was just a short journey to The Gretna Hall Hotel where Emma and Ben were to be married. The venue has some beautiful grounds and we couldn't wait to do our wedding photography thing there with the newlyweds.

Of course Dotty was there too.

Then we had a bit of time with Emma and Ben.

Then of course with it being Gretna, Emma and Ben were armed with their own personalised padlock to leave there as a reminder and memory of their fabulous day.

Then it was back all aboard Dotty for the short journey to the reception where the wedding breakfast was awaiting them.

Night Time Wedding Photography

After the wedding breakfast, the cake cut and the dancing we went with Emma and Ben to the place where the original Gretna Green Blacksmiths anvil was made and originally used for elopement weddings. A fabulous place at night full of opportunities for some creative wedding photography. We love being able to do this as part of our wedding photography.

Day Two Of  The Wedding Celebration.

Emma and Ben had decided to continue their celebrations at home the following day, a chance for family and friends who couldn't be at the wedding ceremony the previous day to celebrate and party with them. And of course there was more cake.

We spend an amazing couple of days with Emma and Ben and yes it wasn't the wedding as they had originally planned but the most important thing was that they fulfilled their dream of becoming Mr and Mrs.
Many congratulations to you both and thank you both so much x.
